Optimizing the Socialization of Sustainable Agriculture as a Strategy for Food Security and Local Economic Improvement in Pante Ceureumen District

Pante Ceureumen District, West Aceh Regency, has significant agricultural potential with extensive agrarian land, tropical agro-climate conditions, and social support based on cooperation. However, this region faces serious challenges such as limited agricultural infrastructure, land degradation, the dominance of conventional farming practices, and low human resource capacity of farmers. This community service activity aims to optimize the socialization of sustainable agriculture as a food security strategy while improving the local economy. The methods include a participatory approach through field observations, semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and field demonstrations. The activity results show a significant increase in farmer knowledge and skills, particularly in using organic fertilizers, crop diversification, efficient soil and water management, and reduced dependence on chemical inputs. The transformation of farmer behavior is reflected in adopting appropriate technology, strengthening farmer group institutions, and increasing awareness of preserving natural resources. The activity evaluation indicates savings in production costs, increased productivity, enhanced food security, and local economic welfare. However, the risks of land conversion, limited subsidized fertilizer, and climate change remain threats that require mitigation through local regulations, the provision of production facilities, and the adaptation of environmentally friendly technologies. In conclusion, optimizing participatory outreach and local wisdom has proven effective in driving the transition to an inclusive, resilient, and competitive sustainable agricultural system. Practical implications of this program emphasize the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration, regional policy support, and the use of digital technology as strategies for strengthening farmer capacity and sustainable rural development.
